7 Reasons to Ditch the Diet – It’s consistency that matters

1. DIET DEPRIVATION.

Most diets make us feel miserable, because we set the bar too high and set ourselves up for failure. After a while, we end up feeling worse than we did at the start and reluctantly admit defeat and celebrate with a take-away!

2. COUNTING CALORIES IS OUTDATED.

We need to be counting nutrients instead. Many calorie counted foods are simply ultra-processed foods in disguise. When we switch to a natural food diet, we process these natural foods very differently to processed foods, and they keep us full up for longer. This means we spend less time thinking about food and we may actually eat LESS calories as a result.

3. DON’T DETOX!

The reason we need to detox is because we keep eating foods that RETOX us in the first place! If we cut down on alcohol, sugar, processed foods, fast foods, snacks, breakfast cereals, meal deals, anything with a long ingredients list or sugary drinks, we will reduce our need to detox in the first place!

4. THE YO-YO SPIRAL!

It’s true, diets make our weight yo-yo. Most diets are unbalanced and fail to address our requirements for proteins and healthy fats, making them nutritionally inadequate. This can lead to us burning our own muscle mass for energy instead of the fat we are desperately hoping will disappear! When we start to eat normally, the lean muscle often gets replaced by body fat which sets off the inevitable yo-yo effect.

5. EXTENDED FASTING!

You might be surprised to hear that many people, especially women, don’t do as well as men on 16 hour fasts and need a more gradual approach. Fasting between meals can count too, which means the night time fast can be shorter! Genius.

6. DIET FOODS ARE MOSTLY JUNK FOODS!

Most foods to support weight loss are designed to make our lives easier, but do little to nourish our body. Synthetic vitamin and minerals are not the same as the vitamins found in food and, yes, our body really does know the difference.

7. DIETS ARE FOR THE FIRST 2 WEEKS IN JANUARY.

Good nutrition is a gorgeous way of living, a lifestyle and a choice, that if done correctly can press the RESET button on our metabolism and change the way we eat FOREVER.
