Cannellini Mash

So this is where it gets tricky! Beans are classed as a protein food on the Renew Reset Recharge® Programme to make sure we can include some plant-based meals into the week and to up the protein, however there is a caveat!

You can also use beans as a carbohydrate replacement in the quarter of a plate designated to your carbs. This is because while beans contain protein they still contain around 60-70% carbs as well as fibre and proteins. This is why I often mix my pulses with higher protein foods in recipes to lower the carbs and up the protein which often works better for weight loss.
