Spiced Poached Pears

Poached pears are often cooked in red wine and sugar, which can make them feel more like an occasional indulgence. This lighter version is designed to be enjoyed more regularly as a simple, nourishing dessert. Star anise lifts the natural sweetness of the pears, while a handful of blueberries adds colour and a gentle blush without relying on added sugar. I sprinkled these with a little Pitaya powder, but you could use cranberry powder that is easier to find—or just leave them as they are.
