Lots of you have asked me to post my granola recip

Lots of you have asked me to post my granola recipe again. Remember it’s a topping, but here it is.

This is my delicious orange bejewelled granola with cranberries, dried raspberries and pistachios. The best thing is you don’t need to weigh anything out. It’s so easy!

You don’t even need to be very precise, you can make this just as you please with any seeds or nuts you fancy, so you can chop and change the ingredients, depending on what you have in your cupboard. You can use more oats if you like, I like to keep it higher protein.

This is why I love making granola, because it teaches us that we don’t always need a recipe.

As you can see, I didn’t really weigh anything, but I did use:

1 1/2 cups rolled oats.
One cup sunflower seeds.
One cup pumpkin seeds
Generous sprinkling of sesame seeds
Juice and zest of one orange
A good drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil.

Pistachio nuts, dried cranberries, chia seeds, dried raspberries

Method

1. Mix all the ingredients together in a ceramic tray and pop into the oven for 25 minutes at 160°C.

2. Turn the oven off and let it cool down completely in the oven. This way it gets super crispy, but doesn’t overcook the seeds.

3. When it is completely cold add all the extras or the jewels, some pistachio nuts, some dried cranberries, Chia seeds, and perhaps even some freeze, dried raspberries.

This is a fantastic topping for Greek yoghurt, especially with chopped up orange to add to the orange flavour. The orange taste is very mild, but it’s better than using cane sugar or honey.

This is a fantastic granola for children too, it’s super easy to make, and you can make it up as you go along!

I ❤️ this recipe because:

🍊 it’s super low in sugar.
🍊 it contains more nuts than oats, which makes it blood sugar balancing
🍊 it is higher and protein than regular granola
🍊 it contains more fibre due to the nuts and seeds.
🍊 it also contains more iron, zinc, magnesium, vitamin E, and vitamins than traditional granola
🍊 it’s completely beautiful!

I’ll be live on Instagram at 7 o’clock tonight talking to the lovely Sharon about her experience of my signature nutrition programme Renew Reset Recharge®️ which has been transforming peoples lives now for the past two years.

I know it’s a cliche to say it’s a lifestyle not a diet, but the results speak for themselves. I have just come off the last zoom call with 12 people that are following the program currently.

Their responses were nothing short of astonishing today and I still feel so uplifted from talking to them all about how the program has affected their lives.

It is normal for people to feel more balanced and on an even keel while following the program, but many people took this a step further to share the following.

I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. Granola is a topping and not the star of the show.

🎯 Deliciously, crunchy and crispy, granola can add plenty of incredible nutrients to our breakfast. The problem is that when we eat shop bought granola, we are eating a high carb food that may not fill us up until lunchtime and may only deliver short-term energy. Also the portion size to fill it up is normally greater than we actually require.

🎯 While granola is healthier than cornflakes or rice crispies, commercial granola can still be rich in sugars and lower in protein.

🎯 Adding granola as a topping to your full fat yoghurt, kefir, or quark, with a large handful of berries adds in healthy fats, fibre and protein, all of which are digested slower than simple carbohydrates.

🎯 Eating all good groups together will slow down the foods absorption in the small intestines. This can help to keep your blood sugars more stable.

🎯 This makes it easier for you to keep your energy on an even keel all morning, and reduces hunger pangs that send you heading for the biscuit barrel by 11 o’clock.

🎯 So, it’s not about avoiding food groups, it’s about eating them in the right proportion for us, as human beings. When we eat in tune with nature, we generally feel better, have more energy, better digestion, Balance, energy and improved blood sugar and hormone balance.

🎯 Renew Reset Recharge®️ is a nutrition program based on proportion and not deprivation. There are no foods that are completely off-limits, but we need to eat them in the right proportion for our health.
